Thi Le Huong, Viet Nam
It’s
hard to clarify what I have gained from the MA in Southeast Asian
Studies Programme after four months studying because it’s
far from what I expected.
As a journalist working for
Viet Nam News, the National English Language Daily of Viet Nam,
my tasks deal mainly with bridging the gaps between cultures, which
requires profound knowledge on international issues. The course,
apart from academic knowledge on ancient civilizations and historical
upheavals of Southeast Asia region, offers me golden chances to
comprehend the most up-to-date situations through field trips to
various places in Thailand and neighbouring countries.
Rockefeller Foundation has provided me the best conditions to study
in Chulalongkorn, the oldest and most prestigious university of
Thailand as well as a quite comfortable life in Bangkok, the centre
of the tourist hub of the region. I have learnt a lot from different
points of view of my classmates, who come from Asia, Europe, America
as well as Oceania. The clear-sighted help of well-educated and
experienced professors here has strongly convinced me of the hospitality
of Thai people.
Since I started the programme here, I have really felt happy in
the “Land of Smiles”.
